The mammoth project, “… Next Stop Is Vietnam – The War On Record 1961-2008″ has Familiy Bear Records, the highly respected specialist in complex researched and presented CD-boxes, even surpassed. An era of hatred and its reflection in popular music are documented with enormous attention to detail harrowing intense.

The fact that Vietnam was the first rock’n'roll war is long since commonplace. Rarely was this more apparent than in the recordings of famous artists assembled here, but also many unknown soldiers. Bob Dylan, Joan Baez, Bruce Springsteen, Johnny Cash, John Lennon, the Beach Boys and many other stars of rock, folk and pop music have castigated America’s war in Southeast Asia.

The songs of the enemy is dedicated for its artistic and moral quality as well as much of the CD box. Vietnam veterans responded with their own songs – not always postwar critical – on the gruesome events they had experienced first hand. In addition come the U.S. President Lyndon B. Johnson and Richard Nixon to speak pure propaganda of the “Masters of War” (Dylan).

Almost every soldier in Vietnam had “his” song, it is one of the essays in the hardback book of the anthology. The U.S. “tunnel rat” in the hunt for hidden Viet Cong fighters stood on “Purple Haze” by Jimi Hendrix, and the patrol GI from Kentucky favorite Nancy Sinatra’s “These Boots Are Made For Walkin”, the color navy “Say It Loud (I’m Black And I’m Proud)” by James Brown. And everyone really listened 1964-1975 soldier stationed in Vietnam ‘We Gotta Get Out Of This Place’ by the Animals. So far most widespread was the feeling of having no place in this strange, hostile land anything.

“You will laugh. You will cry. But after learning about this magnificent box you will not be the same as before”, wrote the legendary Woodstock musician Country Joe McDonald in his foreword. Certainly this is true for American audiences and readers for more than German, which have not experienced the Vietnam war only from a distance or as a later generation. Deeply touching the documentation works well in this country the issue is just universal.

Some of the sillier songs and lyrics you will not necessarily hear all too often, many jewels more often, “Simple Song Of Freedom” by Tim Hardin, for example, “Unknown Soldier” by The Doors, protest-soul like “War” by Edwin Starr, or “What’s Going On” by Marvin Gaye. The fact that the war of the 60s and 70s for contemporary American musician played a role, show contributions of the folk-rock band 10,000 Maniacs, Steve Earle and REM Their singer Michael Stipe in 1988 themed song “Orange Crush” the unscrupulous use defoliation gifts of the Agent Orange by U.S. troops in Vietnam.

McLaren arrived in North London Stoke Newington to the world. His father he barely got to know. The man left the family when his son was two years old. Malcolm spent most of his childhood with his grandmother so. With the new husband of his mother he was not, so he took off as a teen.

In the 60 years he studied art, and flew from various schools, and soon turned to fashion. On London’s Kings Road, he opened the beginning of the 70s with his partner Westwood’s legendary fashion shop, “Let It Rock”, later of “Sex” was called, and sold sadomasochism-clothing.

Initial experience in the music business gathered McLaren when he clothed the mid-70s rock band the New York Dolls. But the commitment was not very successful and McLaren went back to London. He managed the band, The beach, which produced shortly after the Sex Pistols. The band with hits such as “God Save The Queen” the most famous punk band in the world. When the band split in 1978, the members of McLaren accused of mismanagement, however. Rotten later sued him successfully for the licensing of their music.

McLaren is considered one of the first to successfully marketed the punk music. Even Adam and the Ants were maintained by him, and eventually he made himself music. “Double Dutch” but remained a one-hit wonder.

McLaren was primarily a provocateur. The New York Dolls, he was in red costumes with a hammer and sickle occur, the Sex Pistols played especially in public and loud when the royal family just celebrated. But even with classical music, songs and music of the Third World are employed the English.

Bono – Rock Star, Designer, Humanitarian

Author: admin  //  Category: Autobiography, Rock

Bono was born Paul David Hewson in 1960 in Dublin Ireland. His stage name is Bono. Bono is the lead singer of US, he is also a songwriter. He married Ali Stewart in August 1982 and they have 5 children. Bono is also actively involved in as an activist and screenwriter.

Paul was a curious child who seemed to see the world from a different perspective from the rest of the world. When Paul was 15 he suffered the loss of his mother who he was very close to. In high school Paul found himself drawn to music and playing the guitar, spending a great deal of time involved with the school theater. The name Bono was the brain child of his close friend Guggi who took it from a Hearing Aide store located in Dublin. Bono Vox also means good voice in latin.

In 1976 a flyer was posted at his high school by Larry Mullen who was looking to form a band. Paul was jumped at the opportunity. The band became U2 which is now known around the globe.

Ali Hewson [nee Alison Stewart] grew up in the suburbs of north Dublin. She met Bono at high school. He tried to chat her up but she ignored him. Over the years he continued to pursue her. Their relationship moved very slowly because Alison wasn’t interested in becoming one of the Bono girls. After his mother died, Ali being the practical person she is, helped Bono with the essentials like food and clothing. Ali was 22 when they wed.

Ali Hewson appears to be open and down to earth in all respects. She appears honest and never puts on that she knows more about a topic than she does. She smiles often and appears to be a happy human being. She earned her degree in social science, politics, and sociology at the age of 33. She also became involved with Greenpeace.

It was having children that put Ali Hewson on the path of thinking more about the environment. She became concerned about what they would grow up to have, what would be left of the environment. Ali got involved with Greenpeace campaigning against the Sellafield nuclear power plant.

Over time, U2 also became actively involved in the protest against the Sellafield nuclear power plant. She had not direct responsibility for U2 becoming involved but because Bono and Ali share the same concerns, it was a natural outcome. Ali feels as a wealthy person she has a responsibility to do what she can to raise awareness on such issues.

So isn’t it natural that Bono and Ali have now evolved to another level of involvement with social politics. Bono and his wife Ali Hewson now have their fingers in the Fashion industry. But wait – this isn’t just any old fashion venture. This one has a new twist. Their goal is to involve developing countries in the producing of their clothing line, improving the quality of life for these people and their economic welfare.

A new line of clothing has hit the market – Edun – anyone catch that Edun is Nude spelt backwards? The Eden line consists of a casual collection of jeans, T-shirts, chiffon dresses, and blazers. The line is available at Saks Fifth Avenue.

Bono and his wife are attempting to become actively involved in social activism and the betterment of people in developing countries. Their goal is for the Edun collection to be soooo hot that it will be able to provide employment for people in developing nations around the world, developing stable long term relationships with these countries.

Great thought goes into selecting which country will produce which clothing. Selection is based on the resources and talent of the developing countries. They attempt to make “good” matches which are beneficial to Edun and the developing country. They believe that the developing countries and their people will benefit financially and emotionally. But the big picture also means that these developing countries can become part of the global economy.

Bono and his wife might be on the right track with this concept with Edun, as the consumers are becoming much more interested in knowing where and by whom the clothes they purchase are made. The consumer has become social conscious. So this concept could be a win win for everyone!

Justin Timberlake was born on January 31, 1981 and is a Grammy Award winning singer. He first became famous as the lead singer of the 1990’s pop band ‘N Sync and later released a solo album in 2002 entitled Justified, selling over seven million copies worldwide.

In 2002, the group went on hiatus and Timberlake decided to launch a solo career.

In 2002, Timberlake released his debut solo album, Justified with lead single, “Like I Love You”, a song he performed at the 2002 MTV Video Music Awards. The incident, referred to as the “wardrobe malfunction” was replayed countless times by the media.

In 2004, both Timberlake and Jackson were banned from the 2004 Grammy Awards, unless they consented to apologize for the “wardrobe malfunction” at the event. While Jackson declined, Timberlake attended and issued a scripted apology. That very night, Timberlake would take home two Grammy Awards, one for Best Pop Vocal Album for Justified and Best Male Pop Vocal Performance for “Cry Me a River”. In the following year, Timberlake took a break from singing for a couple months to recover from an operation that removed nodules from his throat. In the summer of 2005, he founded his own record company, JayTee records. Timberlake also co-owns his own clothing line, William Rast, along with his close friend, Trace Ayala. Timberlake will appear in several films in the near future, including Alpha Dog, Black Snake Moan, Richard Kelly’s Southland Tales, Edison Force, and will also be the voice of a young King Arthur in the popular animated film, Shrek 3, scheduled to be released in 2007. Timberlake’s sophomore solo album, FutureSex/Love Sounds, is scheduled to be released on September 12 2006. The album, produced by Timbaland, Will.i.am, Rick Rubin, and Timberlake himself, includes guest vocals by Nelly Furtado and Snoop Dogg. The album’s lead single, SexyBack, first started to receive radio play in early July of 2006.
